Ongoing and Past Projects
Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Practices, 2008-2009Funders: St. Louis County and the Cities of Florissant, O’Fallon, and St. Peters, Missouri
Staff: Dr. Patrick Kelly, Rob Ryan, Dr. Sarah Coffin
The Impediments Report will provide updated (2008) demographic profiles, including protected classes, for each of the four jurisdictional areas. Analysis will include statistical tables and descriptive maps describing income, employment, housing characteristics, landuse, and zoning. In addition, home lending practices will be examined using Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data. The relationship between housing, income, employment and transportation can be related to race/ethnicity, families with children, and persons with disabilities in a way that describes the presence or absence of certain impediments or barriers to fair housing choice for citizens. A final report will combine this research with research by the Saint Louis University Law Clinic and be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
